Hello Beautiful Soul! I’m Olivia.
I’m a mental health advocate, a dedicated practitioner of self-care, and a firm believer in the transformative power of healing and personal growth.
My journey hasn’t always been easy or straightforward, and like many of you, it has been filled with struggles and battles. For over 15 years, I have faced and fought my own inner demons – ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. But let me tell you – struggle doesn’t mean defeat, and it’s those battles that have shaped me into the person I am today.
Eight years ago, I made a commitment to myself – a commitment to healing, growth, and most importantly, self-care. It was around this time that I started therapy, eventually incorporating Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) into my healing journey. EMDR has been instrumental in helping me desensitize strong emotions, paving the way for a more balanced mental state.
But my self-care routine goes beyond therapy sessions. It’s a holistic and all-encompassing approach, involving meditation, yoga, running, Epsom salt baths, productive pomodoro timers, liberating brain dumps, and maintaining a healthy distance from the constant barrage of news and social media.
When it comes to meditation, my Headspace app tells me I’ve meditated over 7,245 minutes – but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If I calculate my daily average of 10 minutes over the past 8 years, the actual total soars much higher. This practice has been my steadfast companion, providing much-needed tranquility in the chaos of life.
My thirst for knowledge and growth is insatiable, and I’m an avid reader of self-help literature. Some of the books that have influenced my journey include “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck”, “The Body Keeps Score”, “The Power of Now” and “How to be Yourself”. In addition, I stay tuned to various self-help gurus on YouTube, ensuring I keep up with the latest trends and developments in the realm of self-care.
Through all these practices and years of exploration, I’ve gained confidence, learned to set boundaries, and developed effective strategies to manage my anxiety. I’m proud to say that my passion for self-care is grounded in academic knowledge too. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, with coursework in communication, psychology, human growth and development, and training.
But my journey doesn’t end here. I am fueled by a relentless passion for research – if I don’t know the answer, rest assured, I won’t stop until I’ve found it. I ensure my findings are trustworthy by cross-checking through several sources. My motto is, “Knowledge is power, but only when it’s accurate and verified.”
Now, I wish to share all that I’ve learned with you through this blog, to encourage you on your own journey towards self-care and wellness. Remember, every struggle is a step forward, and every step forward brings you closer to the person you aspire to be.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Here’s to growing, healing, and being comfortable with ourselves!
With love and light,
Olivia
